In a conversation that we had with some friends, we thought that it would be nice to have a CarPC in the car containing songs, GPS, radio, etc.
Although I made my first CarPC back in 2005, the choices today are more than back then with fewer difficulties (back then we had to use mini motherboards from PC, with a 12V power supply for PC).
Some ideas are to use a cheap tablet, since it has everything embedded, but I did not like it. So, I'm experimenting with Raspberry Pi, because it has many modules, you can do everything, it does not consume a lot of power but there are some limitations.
So I'm experimenting now and I'm gonna finish it, I'll post it on the blog (this is also the purpose of this page, discussing projects before it's finished). As a program, I'll use iCarus instead of the Kodi I've seen in similar projects.
The only problem is the power supply, since it has to be some sort of UPS so you do not restart Raspberry Pi every time you turn off your car (or you turn it off accidentally) but you have to turn off Raspberry Pi when you remove the key from the car (or after a short time).
A snapshot of the tests before I deal with the power problem and put it in the car (temporarily with a little screen I'm experimenting on, before I buy a bigger one).
